Olisa Agbakoba criticizes Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan's sexual harassment allegations against Akpabio as inconsistent and lacking proof.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan's sexual harassment allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio are being questioned by legal expert Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN. Agbakoba, who is also representing Akpabio, criticized the allegations as inconsistent and lacking substantial evidence. In a press conference held in Lagos, Agbakoba stated that the claim does not meet the required legal threshold for sexual harassment anywhere in the world. He emphasized that while individuals should feel safe to speak out, justice must be based on solid evidence.
Agbakoba also revealed that he sent a letter to Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, urging her to address the contradictions in her statements. He pointed out a key inconsistency: Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of harassment on December 8, 2023, but the very next day, she posted praise for Akpabio on social media, celebrating an event they both attended. This apparent contradiction undermines the credibility of the allegations, according to Agbakoba.
He concluded by stressing that the current situation does not hold legal weight to support the allegations and warned that Akpoti-Uduaghan must provide clarity on the inconsistencies.
